Exploring a connection between body, voice and spirit, performing artist Andrew Bathory has a background in theatre, music and dance. His work as both a vocalist and a physical practitioner strives to engage the body’s full potential as instrument and expressive vessel. Working primarily in Canada, based out of Toronto from 2005-2011, Andrew was involved with producing/performing several works with Ecce Homo Theatre. The creation and development of his own independent work ‘Pieces of my Mother’ at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre (2007) lead him to work with One Yellow Rabbit in Calgary where he created his second solo piece ‘Dedovshina’. More recent performance highlights include working with The Dietrich Group (2011), and with Theatre Direct (2010) on F.I.V.E for which he was nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore Award. Andrew is a founding member of The Wildflowers Collective, which focuses on community building and enhancement through the arts. His work as an educator focuses primarily on physical theatre and free movement encouraging people to listen to their bodies in new ways. Aside from his practice in the performing arts, Andrew is also a dedicated Yoga Instructor, studying in India (2009). Enhancing his skills as a musician and sound designer he currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts studying at the Berklee College of Music.
